Our Mission
Father Michael J. McGivney was a parish priest in the late 1800's, serving as an assistant pastor at St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Connecticut; Father observed how devastated Catholic families would be should their father and bread winner die or be killed prior to the maturation of the children.
With heads of households at his parish, Father McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus to be a mutual aid society which would assist widows and orphans upon the death of a husband and father.
Today, Knights of Columbus Council 12623 seeks to continue this heritage of helpfulness. Our mission is based on the Beatitudes found in the Gospels, and includes:
- To Share the Gospel of Christ
- To Support the Catholic Church
- To Foster Strong Catholic Families
- To Pray for Our K of C Brothers
- To Encourage Our Military
- To Promote Vocations to Religious Life--Especially the Priesthood
- To Provide for Our Loved Ones
- To Support and Encourage One Another
- To Worship, Adore, and Honor Our Lord Jesus Christ
