In Service To One, In Service To All
Fortify Catholic Fatherhood
Fathers have always had burdens to bear in providing for and rearing their families. While it is true many wives now shoulder some of the financial load in families, typically, it is the husband and father whose responsibility it is to supply the resources necessary for the family's living.

Many middle-aged and young Catholic adults have survived the disintegration of their own families' of origin's divorce. While the 1970's and 1980's saw women choosing career goals over family, or seeking to integrate family life and career, a trend has emerged in recent years for women, with their husband's support, to choose to remain at home and devote their full selves to home-making and rearing children.

According to the website Homeschooling Catholic, Catholic families who homeschool are numbered between 80,000 and 100,000, an estimate derived from the number of total homeschoolers in the country and the number of students enrolled in Catholic home study programs.

At the same time, unemployment, under employment, and fear of losing one's job creates enormous pressures on fathers in the workplace.

There is a role only a father can fill and gifts only a father can give. In a culture that often does not favor fatherhood or masculine virtue, we wish to highlight the unique contributions of men, husbands and fathers. K of C Council 12623 seeks to support as well as possible our members who are grandfathers and fathers, and our young men who will be fathers. We highly recommend our members learn about the International Knights of Columbus's program, Fathers for Good.
Fathers for Good is an initiative of the Knights of Columbus seeking to provide information, inspiration, and expert advice for men to strengthen their faith in God to allow them to strengthen their skills in fatherhood.
