In Service To One, In Service To All
On March 29, 1882, while an assistant pastor at Saint Mary's Church in New Haven, Connecticut, Father Michael J. McGivney, with the cooperation of a few parishioners, founded the Knights of Columbus as a mutual aid society for Roman Catholic men, with its goal being to provide financial assistance to widows and orphans in the event of the death of the husband/father of the family.
